The Liberty Bell is widely accepted as being the first slot machine to be invented. The interesting part is that we associate cherries, BAR symbols and 7s with original casino games like slots. Original Video Poker
In 1891 a company from Brooklyn, New York, called Sittman and Pitt, created a precursor to the modern poker machine, with a design very similar to a slot machine. It had five drums with 10 different cards on each one.
The drums would spin when a coin was inserted, and the handle was pulled. The final poker hand was determined by the cards that each drum stopped on.
Perhaps this was one of the original casino games that set the reels in motion for the creation of the first video poker game, who knows… Yet in the 1970s, with the help of technology, a company called Dale Electronics developed ‘Poker-Matic’ – the first draw poker-based machine to use electronic circuits.
